Winter went by so fast, it was an abnormally warm winter and
spring came early. We aren't complaining; it was just strange
especially for Montana! Therefore we haven't played in the snow because
we had none. We have played outside as much as possible; hiking, jumping on
the trampoline, playing at the park, riding bikes and getting ready for summer.
We took a few day trips to Bozeman, Lincoln and took some drives around the
hills near us. And we finally saw our first moose!
Gav took his first ski lesson this winter.
It was absolutely adorable. Great Divide Ski Hill is a about 15
minutes up the mountain from us and they offer $10 ski rentals and one on one ski
lessons once a week for kiddos 5 and under. We were only able to take
advantage of it once this year, but Gav did so well. Brian and I also went once
this year. Our church puts on a free ski night on the hill each year so
we got a sitter and hit the slopes - it was the first time we have skied in
about 3 years...so much fun! Hopefully next year we can all hit the
slopes a few more time and take advantage of the ski hill being so close.
Dad came out to visit Easter weekend.
We had a fantastic visit. The kids absolutely loved having Grandpa
here!! We headed down to Fairmont Hot Springs one afternoon...Gav went
down the slide the whole day and it's not a small slide - it's quit large.
He had a blast and of course little Sage took turns with all of us.
It was a nice little day trip. We spent the rest of the weekend
Easter egg hunting. We took the kids to the Mt. Helena hunt put on by our
church. The difference between my two kids: Sage couldn't fill her basket
up fast enough and Gav was perusing the eggs trying to find colors he wanted or
checking what was in them before he put them in his basket - haha. They
could not be more different. Our friends Shay and Brett also put together
a super fun Easter hunt each year. This year it was rain/sleeting and
freezing when the hunt begun. All of the kids were muddy, soaked and smiling.
It was a year to remember. And then of course Easter Sunday - we
celebrated with an amazing sermon about historicity of the resurrection! It was also really
beautiful to see Gavin start to understand the true meaning of Easter - the
symbolism of Jesus' blood, the cross and the resurrection. Aunt Christi sent us
these things called Resurrection Eggs, one egg was to be opened each day
preceding Easter with a small symbol to help represent the story of Jesus, it
was such a fun learning tool.
Later in April, Brian and Teenan got to have
a fishing weekend. They fished every morning T was here and sometimes
sneaked out in the afternoon as well. One day they took a float trip down
the Missouri with a guide, they had a great time. They had beautiful
weather, learned tons about fly fishing and about the Mighty Mo river.
They took Gav out with them one afternoon and sure enough he caught his
first fish - he was so proud. It was awesome.
Sage then flew home with Papa after his
week of fishing to have a visit at Nana and Papa's house. She did great
with Teenan on the plane and filled the Anderson household with noise and
silliness for a week. It was Nana's birthday while she was there, they had a
huge 60th birthday celebration and Sage represented our crew. We sure
missed her and our house was awfully quiet but we had a really fun week with
Gavin. It was really special to have some quality time with Gavin. We
took him to dinner, to a movie, on a hike and got to enjoy just him. I have to
say life it sure easier with just one kiddo:)
I went to CO to pick up Sage from Nana and
Papa. While I was there I stayed with my Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Perry
(thank you for always making me feel so welcome!!). I had such a relaxing
time seeing family, laughing with Jess (lots of laughing - so fun having great
cousins) and getting to meet a couple of the newest babies on the block.
Thanks Crisitin for making the time for me to meet sweet baby Aiden -
loved our cuddle time! And Shelb and Katie - it was so fun meeting up at
the park with our little munchkins. Miss you girls!!
For those of you who don't know this last
week has been a pretty bad one. Sunday I spent the day in UrgentCare/ ER and found out that I had pneumonia and a blood blot in my lung. The week
continued with numerous Dr's apts and another visit to the ER.With
a final diagnosis of a Pulmonary Embolism resulting in a Pulmonary Infarction.
Meaning that the clot stopped the flow of blood to a certain portion of
my lung causing that portion of lung to die. The infarction also caused a
sac of fluid to form creating a lot of pain between the lung and the chest
cavity. Needless to say I am on lots of pain meds, blood thinners and
antibiotics. At this point I am focusing on my pain, resting and working
on recovering. I have a vascular/thoracic surgeon who will be monitoring
my lung with frequent CT Scans and a Hematologist monitoring my blood since I
tested positive for 2 blood coagulation disorders.
With all of that said-Brian and I have
been overwhelmed by the support, prayers, meals, babysitting and love that has
been showered on us this week. We have not gone an evening without a meal
being dropped off or someone offering to take our kiddos.
Sage and Gavin have gotten so big- it's really noticable lately. They are so fun, so funny, full of life and keep
me on my toes.
Gavin is quit the smarty pants. For
instance the other day he saw a triangle shape on Brian's shirt and said "dad that's a wedge". Brian said "what is a wedge"
and Gavin proceeds to say "a wedge is a simple machine that splits big stuff".
Haha!! He has been watching a new show called Monster Machines.
It's a truck show that teaches physics and science - thank you TV for
making my kiddo smart:) He is loving and doing great in preschool. This
last weekend his preschool sang at the church associated with his preschool.
They sang 2 songs and I was so impressed...I've never heard Gav sing the
songs or even talk about them and he knew all the words and all the actions.
He's such a boy...doesn't like to share much about his day at preschool.
When I ask what he did at preschool the typical answer is "I don't
know". Now that the weather is warming up, Brian and Gav have been
working in the garage and outside quite a bit. Gav is daddy's little
helper and likes to say "let's do some work dad".
